COVID-19 Response Statement: Stonerise Skilled Nursing Centers
Our priority is the safety of the residents we serve and the dedicated employees who serve them. At this time, Stonerise continues to limit all visitor access within the 17 skilled nursing centers it supports across West Virginia due to concerns regarding the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). This decision was made in an effort to protect our state’s most vulnerable population. We do not take this decision lightly and understand how difficult this will be for residents and their loved ones.
Limiting access means no individual, regardless of reason, will be allowed to enter a Stonerise center, except under certain and very specific circumstances, such as if a patient is under end-of-life care. All essential visitors and stakeholders can enter facilities through one locked point of entry and exit. Upon arrival, all essential visitors and stakeholders will be screened for fever, recent travel, illness, and exposure to COVID-19.
Our ultimate goal is the safety and health of our residents and staff. We understand the significance of limiting visitor access because we treat our centers like patients’ homes, and patients rely heavily on the support of their families. However, we believe this precaution is absolutely necessary at this point. We have televisit capability to ensure our patients have the ability to visit with family, friends, and clergy via video.

We ask for your patience and support during this challenging time.
We continue to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) closely. Additionally, we are regularly in touch with Governor Justice’s office, our state and local health departments, and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
Visitors should consider the following guidelines:
- Only employees, those directly providing end-of-life care to a resident, those who have family members experiencing a life-threatening health condition, or individuals providing essential services are permitted to enter the center.
- If individuals fall into one of the groups above, but are exhibiting symptoms or exposure to COVID-19, access will be restricted.
- All essential visitors will be escorted to and from patients’ rooms.
